Always insert the micro:bit with the buttons facing up so that all the pins are visible. The connector is symmetrical, so there is no risk of inserting it incorrectly. Insert the micro:bit carefully, without using unnecessary force.
The MB2 expansion board can be used without a battery connected. This option is especially useful when you don't have a battery available. The disadvantage, however, is that you have to put up with cables and are limited to static projects.
For these purposes, we can use power supply via the USB "Battery charging" connector, which will ensure full functionality of the board.
For power supply, we recommend using a dedicated battery, which can be purchased in our e-shop. It is connected via the Molex connector on the back of the board. When using for the first time, it is advisable to charge the battery via USB first.
Charging is indicated by an LED. A red light on the “Charging status” indicates that the battery is charging. Once charging is complete, the LED changes state and the battery is ready for use.
The MB2 expansion is turned on and off using the “Power switch” on the left side of the board. Above it is a status LED – when it is green, the board is on.
The battery charge status is shown by the red LED "Battery level". This only serves as an indication - the weaker the light, the more discharged the battery is. The main purpose of the indication is to warn that the battery is getting low. Therefore, we recommend charging the battery before each use.
We always store the MB2 extension with a fully charged battery.
To work with pins, just use the basic blocks available directly in MakeCode. There is no need to install any additional extensions.
